So we’ve decided to try not having cable for a week.  Why, well really have you looked at your cable bill lately?  Ours is huge, that’s money we could use right now.  Now we’re not destitute or anything, but not having a reliable income source, cutting back on expenses is a smart decision.

So how are we doing without cable…these people addicted to their dvr boxes…. actually quite fine.  We are Hulu Plus members, which allows me to basically set-up a subscription list and when a new show is added it hops into my queue.  I can then go and see what’s in the queue and stream it.  Pretty nice.  Eventually we will be able to stream through the xbox 360.  We’re still evaluating what the bedroom device is going to be.

I’ve had several questions about it, so let me answer those publicly here.

What about the news?

Well, all of our local channels stream their news or you can use an antenna (which we have now).

How do you watch sports?

Currently we will use an antenna.  Soon Xbox live will have it’s new deal with ESPN, we will be able to stream any sporting even through there.

Nascar?

Really not an issue in this house… but you can actually stream it live in Nascar.com.

I think the only person that has been effected is Miss M.  She can’t watch Nick Jr., but we have Nexflix so we can still stream some older versions of her favorite shows.  More to come…
