Made with love

30 August 2010 No Comment

You know as moms we like to think that all our meals are made with love… well I know each time I use this skillet they are.  Last year when my grandmother passed, I wanted her cast iron skillet.  Kinda a strange request I’m sure, but she taught me how to make gravy in this skillet.  Miss M wasn’t even a year old when Granny had her in the kitchen watching.

Buster!

I read this post from Pioneer Woman last week and couldn’t get it out of my head.  We love chicken fried steak in this house, like we fall into it.   So of course I had to try this…. seriously, how can you go wrong with butter?

My iron must be low or something, I can’t seem to get enough beef these days.  It’s crazy!

Of course at our house, I didn’t pour the left over flour on top, I saved it to make gravy… mmm… gravy… lots of gravy… lol

Final Plate

To go along with the gravy you have to have mashed potatoes and green beans.  You know kinda like at Stoud’s.

I was asked how I make my mashed potatoes.  Well, I just cut them up (this time they were goldens), skin and all.  Boil them, drain, butter lots of butter, then some sour cream.  Mix well with mixer.  Yes, they’re that easy.  So here’s the final plate.

Miss M loves mashed potatoes, can you tell? Miss M and mashed potatoes
